I’ve got to be honest, I loved summer reading when I was younger. I can still remember the excitement of being handed one piece of paper to wrap up the school year – my summer reading list. After a whole year of slogging through books as quickly as I could to churn out an essay at the end, there was something that thrilled me about reading a great piece of literature with no (or a very minimal) assignment attached and no other homework pressing in on my time.
I could enjoy the book, roll around in the language a bit, and do it all poolside! What’s not to love about that?
I come by my penchant for reading honestly. I’ve never known my dad to not have a book (or 5) on his shelf. I married a reader too. In fact, books are pretty much our go-to gift for one another.
In this episode of The College Checklist Podcast, my father and husband join me as we dive into our very favorite books that we would love to recommend you put on your very own summer reading list and even encourage you to start your very own family book club!
Not a reader? Not a problem! We’ve got some recommendations to help even the least interested reader get pulled into a great story.
